Town 0-0 Chelsea Mon 01st Apr 2002 18:39 Town will rue Marcus Bent's first half penalty miss as for the second successive home game the match ended 0-0. Chelsea's Carlo Cudicini was the busier of the two keepers in a game which has, temporarily at least, taken Town out of the bottom three. |
Holland to Start Tue 26th Mar 2002 17:41 Matt Holland is in the starting line-up for Ireland's friendly with Denmark in Dublin on Wednesday evening. Fellow midfielder Jim Magilton is also in action, for Northern Ireland in Liechenstein. |
Leeds 2-0 Ipswich Wed 06th Mar 2002 22:43 Leeds ran out 2-0 winners of a wind affected game at Elland Road this evening. Once again Town must reflect on more errors at the back, but in truth the Blues created little of consequence despite the odd decent passing move in midfield. |
Mauricio Hoping for Good Reception Thu 10th Jan 2002 16:29 Former Town defender Mauricio Taricco makes his first appearance at Portman Road since leaving Town in 1998. The Spurs full-back has told TWTD that he is looking forward to the return to his old stomping ground. |
Hamilton Returns! Fri 23rd Nov 2001 10:49 In a surprise move Town have announced the return of Bryan Hamilton, as a first team coach alongside Tony Mowbray. Hamilton's return may prove controversial after his recent spell as manager at Norwich. The former Northern Ireland, Tranmere, Wigan and Leicester manager was present at Town's game last night and will start in his new position immediately, traveling with the Town party to Middlesbrough tomorrow. |
Scowy Bid Turned Down - Sheepshanks Thu 12th Jul 2001 19:39 Town chairman David Sheepshanks has said that Town have turned down Leicester’s bid for James Scowcroft, thought to be around the £3.5 million mark. However, it seems this is not necessarily the end of the matter with further developments likely. Sheepshanks has also said that Town themselves have two bids in at present, although he wasn’t giving any names. One of these is likely to be Hartlepool’s Tommy Miller. |
Miller Linked Fri 29th Jun 2001 12:15 Town are being linked with a move for Hartlepool midfielder Tommy Miller. Miller, a former Town trainee, has been the star of Hartlepool's last two years, scoring 37 goals in that time. Miller left Town at the age of 15 as he was thought too small to make it. |
Stewart Decision to be Left Late Mon 07th May 2001 10:46 Marcus Stewart will hope he can improve what has been a bad weekend by getting himself fit enough for Town’s starting line-up this evening. Stewart not only saw Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink score two goals to go ahead of him in the Premiership goal charts, but old club Huddersfield joined his other former team Bristol Rovers in being relegated. |
Town 2-0 Coventry Sat 21st Apr 2001 17:58 The Blues place in Europe was confirmed as they beat a lacklustre Coventry side as Southampton drew with Aston Villa. Goals from Martijn Reuser and Jermaine Wright, his first at Portman Road, saw Town home as Coventry's twin threat of John Hartson and former Canary Craig Bellamy was kept at bay. |
Saints 0-3 Town Mon 02nd Apr 2001 23:06 A fabulous Marcus Stewart hat-trick gave Town the points as the Blues dominated from virtually start to finish. Town went in one-up at the break and added two more in the second half. In truth it could have been many, many more against a Southampton side clearly reeling from the departure of Glenn Hoddle. |
